Abstract

The development of Science and Technology encourages humans to continue to innovate and produce works that can facilitate employment, maintain the ecosystem, and be friendly to nature. Environmentally friendly technology is one of the most needed technologies today that can balance nature and the surrounding environment, and play a role in human welfare, one of which is mobile device technology that has a more precise and natural input method, especially for writing, drawing, and annotation activities on Android smartphones. Not all Android devices are equipped with an active stylus which is relatively expensive and the technology is complex. The purpose of this study is to design and build a simple digital pen that can be used on Android smartphones, with a low cost and easy-to-implement design. The research methods used include the hardware design stage, prototype fabrication, compatibility testing with capacitive touch screens, and performance evaluation based on the level of responsiveness, accuracy, and ease of use. The result of this study is the creation of a simple digital pen prototype that is cost-effective, easy to use, and compatible with various Android devices.
