SISTEM PAKAR DIAGNOSIS PENYAKIT SAPI MENGGUNAKAN ALGORITMA FORWARD CHAINING DAN CERTAINTY FACTOR

The increasing demand for beef in Indonesia requires effective livestock health management to maintain productivity. However, limited access to veterinarians, particularly in rural areas, makes early and accurate diagnosis of cattle diseases difficult. This study aims to design and develop an expert system for cattle disease diagnosis that assists farmers in identifying diseases from observed symptoms and provides treatment recommendations as an initial response. The system applies Forward Chaining to infer disease diagnoses from predefined rules and Certainty Factor to calculate confidence levels for the diagnostic results. The knowledge base was constructed from literature studies and interviews with an expert in animal health. The system was implemented as an interactive and user-friendly web application. Evaluation included alpha testing, beta testing, and accuracy testing using 20 diagnostic test cases with 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 symptoms in each diagnosis process. The results showed that all diagnoses generated by the application matched the expert decisions, yielding an accuracy of 100%. The application also provides confidence values and treatment recommendations, supporting farmers in initial handling without replacing the role of veterinarians and improving their understanding of cattle health.
